Buttons play a crucial role as a design element.

The material of choice on an Ethan Williams button is often Mother of Pearl.

Mother of Pearl buttons are unique in that each button is hand crafted from natural material. The right shell is selected in relation to the color, size and thickness of the finished button.

The buttons are then polished, colored and/or surface-coated. Finally, the buttons are polished to a glossy or matte finish.
